YOUR BABY GENDER

Boy Or Girl Your Choice

The scientific and technical advancements have made it possible for parents to choose the gender of a baby. While most of the methods are based on technical principles, there are some other methods purely based on natural techniques and procedures.

Technical methods are generally based on sperm fertilization and are drawn from two of the most popular infertility treatments namely, in-vitro fertilization and artificial insemination.

In-vitro fertilization involves the use of fertility drugs to stimulate the ovaries in order to produce more eggs. These eggs are then taken out and are allowed to fertilize with a sperm in a petri dish. About five days later the doctors place the fertilized eggs inside the uterus. Artificial insemination or intrauterine insemination also involves the use of fertility drugs. The only difference is that the doctor directly inserts a concentrated sperm into the uterus.

Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis is another technique in which the eggs are fertilized with sperms in a petri dish. An embryo is formed and it is tested for gender. The desired embryo is then inserted into the uterus. This method is known to be almost 100 percent effective.

The other technical methods are microsort and ericsson. Both of these involve a technique to separate the boy producing sperm from the girl producing sperm. On separation, the sperms are inserted directly into the uterus.

Then there are some natural methods which are very affordable and just need the couple to be together in the privacy of their home. They are known as Shettels method and Whelan method.

The Shettels method and the Whelan method are based on the technique of indulging in intercourse on some specific days. The theory suggests that if you make love close to the moment of ovulation, there is a better chance to conceive a boy.

If you'll indulge in it 3 days or more before ovulation then there is better chance to conceive a girl. This is based on a simple medical fact that the Y (male) sperms are smaller and weaker but are faster and they tend to get to the eggs faster whereas the X (sperms) tend to be around even if they were released sometime before ovulation. Another factor is that a more acidic environment favors girls since it kills the weaker sperms whereas a more alkaline balance favors boys.

Another factor is the sexual position and penetration. The woman's tract is more acidic when it is closer to the vagina. Therefore, a shallow penetration will help in conceiving a girl whereas a deep penetration will place the sperm closer to the egg. Hence, there are better chances for conceiving a boy.

These methods, both technical and natural, are bringing in a new revolution as far as choosing the gender is concerned. However, gender selection is considered as an unethical act my many individuals and groups in the society.
